SDK
The Xense software stack contains two complementary Python packages:
| Package | Purpose | Typical data |
|---|---|---|
xensesdk | Connect tactile sensors and run vision, depth, deformation, and force algorithms | Rectified images, depth, Marker2D/3D, Force, Mesh3D |
xensegripper | Control a gripper locally or through a compute unit | Position, velocity, force, temperature, and SAFE mode |
Both packages provide Python APIs. XenseGripper SAFE mode consumes tactile feedback from XenseSDK, so install and calibrate the sensor SDK first.
Connection modes
- Local: devices connect directly to the development computer.
- Remote: devices connect to a compute unit and the application addresses it by MAC or IP.
- Solver: recorded images are replayed offline with an exported runtime configuration.
Always release resources on exit: call sensor.release() and use with gripper.mode(...) for temporary gripper modes.
